Black America

By Linda

Stand up and ball your fist with me and scream Black America to all our enemies
Stand proud and smile, and let them know all the hell we went through
From the bombings and the lynching, it’s a miracle that we made it through
What we endured made us stronger, still don’t erase the pain and tears we shared
Lost two great leaders along the way. Dr. King and Malcolm they paved the way
They made it their priority for us to be treated equally.
Didn’t back down, that’s why they had them taken out, hated an educated “Nigger” telling them everything they wanted to change
From boycotting the buses to calling for justice, everything they set their minds to they did it
Be proud Black America, we have been through too much to bow down now
They want us to keep living in poverty it’s time for us to level up
Let them know we’re not second to anyone, we got to let our voices be heard
The way we struggled it’s writing down in history, what more do they want?
It seems like history is rewinding itself, racist politicians, and police brutality
Seems like being black comes with a price tag, everything we do leaves a target on our backs
Thought our ancestors paid off our debts? Beginning slaves wasn’t enough?
Guess killing “US” was just a sport, so they found new ways to try to keep us down
I know they were mad when a black man won the presidential race? They didn’t think we would ever make it into the White House
Scared to shake our hands, man give credit when it's due
Black America can you see the things we could do; anything is possible if you just believe
Stop all that doubting and take a stand: What Dr. King and Malcolm died for was to get us to this exact point
The rest is up to us we got to carry the torch, let our names go down in history.

I was watching the assassination of Malcolm X on Netflix and I wanted people to know that it\'s okay to be Black in America we have been through too much to be treated the way we have been. Enough is Enough we need to take a stand what better way to do is
