Compassion
We don't want to pity
Those who bring about pain
It is a simple function of human nature
To see the darkness that follows close behind a person
And avoid them accordingly
Despise them out of self-preservation
That's why we must go against our human nature
To have compassion enough to see
That those surrounded by darkness
Are often the most afraid
Those who bring about pain
It is a simple function of human nature
To see the darkness that follows close behind a person
And avoid them accordingly
Despise them out of self-preservation
That's why we must go against our human nature
To have compassion enough to see
That those surrounded by darkness
Are often the most afraid

I heard someone bashing a book because it was partially written from a Nazi soldier\'s perspective, and it made me realize how deeply ingrained the \"us versus them\" mindset still affects people to this day. Do people still not realize that many German and Nazi soldiers were forced to fight? That they were drafted just like American soldiers? You do not have to believe the principle you\'re fighting for in a war- you just have to believe you can fight. Fight, survive, and make it home alive.

We all walk in darkness, till we breach the light. Sometimes people need to stop and ask for directions.
