Death of a Soulmate
Your heartbeat in my lungs
choking on the pulse,
Numb to the tip of our tongues
as we begin to convulse.
Our thoughts were a symphony
playing the same note,
Blowing every chord so skillfully
taste the music in the barrel of my throat.
Your voice in my head
echoing on every sound wave,
White noises buried and dead
Resting in their eternal grave.
Deaf to your seduction
I am impaired to your fiction,
Cut the umbilical cord to function
no longer crave your addiction.
Never one to be a lover
you are now a shadow of a friend,
Adored you like no other
but all good things must come to their end.
Our souls were tied
the overhand knot comes undone,
Our subconscious lied
for we were never one.
choking on the pulse,
Numb to the tip of our tongues
as we begin to convulse.
Our thoughts were a symphony
playing the same note,
Blowing every chord so skillfully
taste the music in the barrel of my throat.
Your voice in my head
echoing on every sound wave,
White noises buried and dead
Resting in their eternal grave.
Deaf to your seduction
I am impaired to your fiction,
Cut the umbilical cord to function
no longer crave your addiction.
Never one to be a lover
you are now a shadow of a friend,
Adored you like no other
but all good things must come to their end.
Our souls were tied
the overhand knot comes undone,
Our subconscious lied
for we were never one.

This is the realization that someone you viewed as your soulmate is not really the one for you. It actually was inspired by a situation another friend experienced.
