I don\'t want to grieve anymore
I don't want to remember the bad,
the hands folded neatly
over each other
on a lily covered casket.
The incense etched in my brain
like a prayer presented through
pursed lips on a rosary.
Our father, who art in heaven,
please reprimand me,
a sinner,
for not visiting her enough.
Pictures in memory seem so foreign.
I wish I was there for more,
but I was born too late to really
learn the lessons she gave.
My skin burns with regret.
Burns with emotions so big,
I fear the container of my body
will burst.
I want to forget those last memories,
but they are permanently fused with
the back burner of my mind.
I can still hear your laugh,
feel your warmth,
see our time spent together
every time I close my eyes.
And I still say "is" instead of "was"
because you're still alive in my eyes.
So even though
I don't want to grieve anymore,
the emotion itself is a reminder
that I loved you more
than I ever imagined.

This is SO POWERFUL I want to cry. It reminds me of the MC in the book I'm writing (his older brother died) and AHHH it's making me emotional. Not to mention the writing was AMAZING. I loved the pacing and the flow, it went so well. BRAVO
