Licorice Tongue
Your worst flavor
I loved too much
A bitter taste
An even worse aftertaste
All stuck on my tongue.
I loved you
As I loved your licorice tongue
Always spewing sweet lies
Trying to cover its black truth
The black that was in your eyes
The black behind your lies
Love you’d call it
I used to say the same thing
It felt so real
It even felt sweet
But now
Now that sweetness is gone
All that is left
Is the bitter licorice
Still left on my tongue
I loved too much
A bitter taste
An even worse aftertaste
All stuck on my tongue.
I loved you
As I loved your licorice tongue
Always spewing sweet lies
Trying to cover its black truth
The black that was in your eyes
The black behind your lies
Love you’d call it
I used to say the same thing
It felt so real
It even felt sweet
But now
Now that sweetness is gone
All that is left
Is the bitter licorice
Still left on my tongue
