Love versus Doubt

Waiting for the crowbar to come and pry my feelings out of my chest.
For a year, I’ve been trying my best,
But my emotions are encased in an iron vault
Inside my pleural cavity.
I need something to help get it out of me.
Inside the vault there are two things.

They fight day and night to try and win,
But you see, there is love fighting doubt
And love taps out every time.
Doubt is big and strong
And love is tired and starting to decay.
Doubt grows stronger and stronger each day.
Love has almost withered away.
Doubt fights with brains and brawn;
Love fights with “Stop! Get away!”

They fight night and day to try and win.
Constantly buzzing around in my chest.
I’m waiting for the crowbar to come pry them out
So I can declare the winner: not love, but doubt.
