Rescue

Stranded, walking down a lonely road,
Coming across a lonely abode,
Wondering where it all went wrong,
I allowed myself to be strung along,

An arid desert vast and dry,
Nary a sound not even a cry,
Left with a weary soul,
Will I ever again feel whole,

I lean against the wall,
Slowly starting to fall,
Holding tight my knees,
Praying to God oh please,

As I sat there beginning to feel despair,
I began to think this punishment was fitting and fair,
There was a land of opportunity if I took the train,
Instead I gripped onto false hope looking to escape the rain,

How could I have seen the ending when it brought me bliss,
It’s hard to escape the addictive feelings that I miss,
I’m going to lie down for a bit and close my eyes,
This was my life’s demise.
