The Cage Inside

I’ve caged my emotions inside a box
Beating against the lid
Pounding against my heart
Screaming inside my head

Nothing inside that box is small
I usually don’t feel it’s efforts to escape
But right now I feel their struggle
One tiny moment and they’ll be free

All boxed away I appear resilient
I am bold
I am fierce
I am unstoppable

However these emotions have all the power
They can tear down my entire facade in seconds
They may be trapped inside
But they hold the key as well

A few more weeks
They will have given up
They will have accepted the truth
That no one will know

I’m dying on the inside
Even though I’m a warrior outside
A few more weeks
And the pain will be gone

This Poems Story

I broke up with my boyfriend. I felt caged by my emotions cause I had to be the one to win emotionally and I’m a warrior that doesn’t show emotion.
