The Silence of our bitter worth

The sorrow flows where rivers carve the stone,
A heavy darkness wraps the path alone,
And leaves me walking in the dark alone.
Your words were woven webs of fragile thread,
On bitter lies my trusting heart was fed,
I watched the truth in silence slip away.
I played the fool within a hollow play,
And let the aching shadow have its sway,
Beneath the weight, a desperate spirit broke.
I gave my hand before the setting sun,
To hold the line until the thread is spun,
Though this scarred heart can find no room for rest.
It matters not if hope has turned to dust,
I plant my feet and anchor in my trust,
So let the secrets drift into the sea.
I stand alone to witness what was lost,
Regardless of the damage or the cost,
For death alone shall part the hands we joined.
Upon this lonely path that fate purloined,
To protect the sacred vow that we conjoined.
