Too Soon

By Abby

Today, I woke up
Something felt different from the other days
I looked at the place in my room I made for you
And felt this little hand touch my face

That is when I knew
I knew God took you from me
I don’t know why he took you from me

You are now my angel looking down upon me
Protecting me, loving me
You reminded me what it felt like to feel needed

We may never have met face to face
We may never have gotten to feel each other's touch
But you will always have a place in my heart

My heart is not complete, but that's okay
Mommy and Daddy love you.
Save us a seat at God’s table
We will one day join you

For now, our hearts ache
For we are longing for your touch
Your smile we never got to see.
Mommy and Daddy will be okay

It may hurt for a while but God has a plan for us
He decided that we were not ready for you yet
I knew that it was too good to be true

When I saw that positive sign on that test
I knew that you would never make it into this world
I hoped I was wrong,
God knew that my heart was not ready to love you

I hope you will still visit me in my dreams
Show me that your watching
Mommy will wait

I will wait forever and ever
To be able to hold a baby of my own
Look down upon it and smile
Because it reminds me of the pain I went through

Losing you has prepared me to love the baby in my arms
Mammy will never forget your great sacrifice
Every time I look at that baby

I will remember the moments that we did not get to share
I hope you play with your siblings in heaven
I hope you are loved by the family you have there with you

Mommy and Daddy can’t be with you
But you are with us
Until we meet

This Poems Story

I wrote this poem over a year ago. My fiance and I lost our unborn child. I was 5 1/2 weeks pregnant. I lost 2 more after that one. Miscarriages are painful. I had 3 kids before these miscarriages. 2 were born without brains and the other was a stillbirth. They would be 11,10, 6. I hope one day for a healthy baby.
