Hyperactive Thoughts
A flicker—no, a flood instead,
A symphony that splits my head.
A thought is born—a star ignites,
Then chaos swirls in sleepless nights.
A tangent leaps, a tether snaps,
A million doors that leave no maps.
I chase the threads but lose the weave,
In labyrinths I cannot leave.
Ideas bloom, then die in haste,
A garden turned to tangled waste.
The roots run deep, the vines ensnare,
I suffocate in phantom air.
No silence lingers, no breath is mine,
Just storms that crash through space and time.
My mind, a beast that knows no chain,
Yet longs to sleep, yet fights in vain.
A symphony that splits my head.
A thought is born—a star ignites,
Then chaos swirls in sleepless nights.
A tangent leaps, a tether snaps,
A million doors that leave no maps.
I chase the threads but lose the weave,
In labyrinths I cannot leave.
Ideas bloom, then die in haste,
A garden turned to tangled waste.
The roots run deep, the vines ensnare,
I suffocate in phantom air.
No silence lingers, no breath is mine,
Just storms that crash through space and time.
My mind, a beast that knows no chain,
Yet longs to sleep, yet fights in vain.

Background: This poem captures the chaos of an overactive mind perhaps one suffering from anxiety, ADHD, or obsessive thoughts. The relentless flow of ideas, metaphors for storms, tangled roots, and labyrinths, conveys a sense of mental overload. The speaker is trapped within their own mind, unable to find peace as thoughts spiral uncontrollably. The poem mirrors this mental state by maintaining a quick, rhythmic flow that never truly settles.
